Locations Wine

In the world of wine there are compelling Locations that exist where soil, climate and vines interact to produce grapes that uniquely express their Location through wine. Our love of wine recognizes the nuances of time and place that combine and interact to represent location. These Locations exist individually within appellations of the new and old world, but are seldom combined across appellation, in the art of blending due to laws and restrictions that make it near impossible to express true winemaking freedom.

With a goal in mind to create a blend that showcases the best of the Golden State, we navigated the famed appellations of Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and the Sierra Foothills for prized fruit. Inspired by our international projects, the same philosophy is applied to our State series

Chateau Grand Traverse

Chateau Grand Traverse is a world-class winery located on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan. At the core it is a family-owned and operated winery with a colorful and proud winemaking tradition. As 2nd generation producers, we are afforded the opportunity to carry forward the winemaking vision and maverick spirit that our founder set forth 44 years ago. It’s quite humbling to recognize that our combined efforts, decisions making and personalities are reflected in each hand-crafted bottle we produce…yes, it’s personal!

As growers of wine, we relish the fact that we are farmers first and make our living directly from the soil of our Michigan home. As winemakers, we can express the fruit of our labors in a regionally unique wine product. As committed stewards of the land, we also recognize the importance of the environment and our responsibility to provide for future generations. It’s more than just a business, it’s a commitment and lifestyle that we proudly live.

The Joy of Rombauer

Founded in 1980 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer, Rombauer Vineyards has been producing acclaimed wines from Napa Valley, Sonoma County, the Sierra Foothills, and the Santa Lucia Highlands ever since. Our winery is known for its high-quality wines, exceptional vineyard sites, family-style hospitality, and commitment to sharing the Joy of Wine with the world.

With just three head winemakers in our over-40-year history, we’ve achieved consistency of style — distinctive, fruit-driven wines — while continually refining and improving our winemaking practices. Richie Allen, our Senior Director of Winemaking, embraces traditional and cutting-edge practices in the vineyard and cellar to make certain each wine gets the customized attention it needs.

Smith & Hook Cabernet Excellence

To craft this classic Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon, our winemakers layer together fruit from small, family-owned vineyards in five unique sub-appellations: San Antonio Valley, Paso Robles, Hames Valley, Arroyo Seco and San Benito County. The result is a lush, rich and expressive Cabernet Sauvignon, hand crafted from California’s spirited Central Coast.

Tasting Notes: Aromas of cherry and plum with hints of violet, leather and saw dust. The palate is full-bodied and rich with flavors of ripe blackberry, dark cherry and cassis supported by full tannins and notes of vanilla and toasty spice on a complex, long finish.
